The last few days.

The last few days have been complete madness for me. Between shooting, getting my website together and working I haven't had much time to sit down and write.

On Thursday I got to see my friend Jenny Owen Youngs play at DC9. Whenever Jenny comes into town it really makes my day. Not only is she so amazingly talented, but she likes shoes and smells like delicious candy. I shot a few photos at the show for the hell of it, you can check them out here.

Last night my good friend Cristian Loza came over and we (he) spent several hours getting my website all put together so it will be ready to launch on Tuesday. Please check back then to see what we have come up with: www.VoteJoeC.com

The craziness of Inauguration is about to start today!!! At 6pm I will be seeing Chester French play an acoustic set at The Greater Good in DC. I will be trying to update as much as possible, but we will see how that goes.

Long long day

Today I woke up at 6:30am. I don't think I have been awake that early (being awake from the night before doesn't count) in like a year. I didn't mind though, it was definitely worth it :)

In other news. Today I sold my beloved Panda. We had a great run, and many, many, MANY problems along the way, but it was time to part ways. It was kinda sad to watch the new owner drive off in the car I worked so hard to build just how I wanted. I think it is for the best though, it is time to move onto bigger and better things, aka a House, the Preulde, and some traveling.

I shot photos today of a French R&B singer. It was interesting. After waiting for almost two hours for them to show up, I finally got to shoot in the blistering cold for an hour. Talk about miserable. Try standing on the edge of the river taking photos when it is freezing cold and windy. Its lame, trust me. I guess I will post some photos when I get a chance to edit them.

My night ended with seeing City and Colour at the Black Cat with my friend Stephen. I honestly wasnt that impressed with his performance. I had seen a lot of videos on youtube of live performances where he was amazing, but I guess tonight was an off night. Oh well. I still think he is rad.

Tomorrow I will be seeing my friend Jenny Owen Youngs play at DC9. I am sooooo excited!! It has been several months since I have seen her play live and I know she has a few amazing new songs in her arsenal. If you dont know who Jenny is... I dont think we can be friends. Either way, watch this:

Shoot

So once again, after giving this studio a million chances, they have canceled my shoot for today. I get a call at 2:30 from them, when they are supposed to meet me at 3:00 to say that hair and makeup isn't done and the appointment isn't until 4pm. I am so tired of this bullshit. When are people going to realize that this is my job, and everything cannot always revolve around them and how unorganized and unprofessional they are.

On another note, tomorrow I am meeting a gentleman who is purchasing my civic. The panda and I have had a long run but it is time to move on. I have other projects, and other things I would rather have my money tied up in. I will miss you Panda. <3

Dent May

In October I got to shoot this amazing band called "Dent May and His Magnificent Ukulele" when I was shooting for CMJ at CMJ Music Marathon in NYC. Is that too many acronyms for one sentence? Either way, I was checking out the lineup for South By Southwest this year, and there was a photo I took of Dent May on the main page! You can see that here. This may lead to me having the oportunity to shoot SxSW this year, which would be epic. Anyway, check out this rad Dent May video:

I meant to post this a few days ago when I posted some lyrics from The Cure's 1988 song "Just like Heaven." Katie Melua is a singer/songwriter born in Georgia but raised in Ireland and England. She is legit for sure. See for yourself:



Being such a big fan of The Cure, I thought that I would hate any remake of any of their songs. I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard this song and I haven't been able to stop listening to it since. It should be stated that between 1st and 4th grade my cousin John would lock me in a room and force me to listen to The Cure. Thanks John!

Last night!

Last night was my friend Alexis' birthday so she had a really rad cocktail party at Taylor Gourmet, who's website I shot a few weeks back, see those here. The food was absolutely amazing, I couldn't stop eating (and drinking) the whole time I was there. The party continued at Rock and Roll hotel, where Alexis had a private room with more delicious alcohol.
